"Are you made of ice, woman?" Remus looked up from his reading. Sirius had just stormed into the library and was adding cooling charms to the room.

"Can I have just one room I'm comfortable in? This whole house is drafty and damp." Hermione was countering Sirius' charms even as he was adding more.

"My room is just above this one and heat rises, Hermione!" Remus pursed his lips. He almost asked why Sirius didn't set the cooling charms in his room, rather than here, but Remus knew the answer to that. It sparkled in his oldest friends eyes as he goaded the young witch he was baiting into a full explosion.

"That's your problem!" she protested childishly. "You're only good at taking care of your own needs."

Remus was rather tickled by that last remark. Insulting Sirius' manhood by making allusions to his masturbatory habits would have backed most wizards down, or scandalized them beyond recognition. Of course, Sirius is not most wizards.

"What are you suggesting, Hermione?" Sirius' tone was playful, but carried an edge of warning, that flirted around the edges of outright invitation.

"I suggest," said Remus, who had been entirely forgotten. "That the two of you fuck and get it over with."

that was purrfect! They seem to forget remus is there. I can just imagine them both turning to stare at him when he says that. or perhaps, just staring at each other contemplating the best location for said activity. the library would be good...he did just put all those cooling charms there!

really cute, VERY fresh, and very well-written. You got a lot of the character dynamics and chemistry nailed in a really short space here.
