Author's Notes: Thank you dear prompter for giving me so much to work with. I enjoyed writing this tremendously and I hope that you enjoy reading it. This is a quasi–historical (heavy on the quasi)and non–magic AU. I borrowed from British naval history and the Golden Age of Sail, but this piece cannot be nailed to any point in history, and I even made up facts when it suited me. This is a love-at-first sight bodice–ripper of sorts and should be taken with a grain (or perhaps a bucket) of salt.
