First, HOMG I miss you guys. I've been able to watch your posts from my phone but it won't let me comment without first wrestling it to the ground and then bludgeoning it with something large, so I've just given up on trying. I'm out here watching and caring, but there are just so many posts to catch up on, that I really only get one or two at the most.

I spent my Thanksgiving with my parents. They are at an age where many of their closest friends have past on, and the ones that are still around are busy with their adult children and grandchildren. All of the family they have are either an ocean away or in other states. My mom is not as emotionally attached to Thanksgiving being from Germany, so she is not terribly enthused about cooking a big meal just for the three of us. She'll make the effort for Christmas Eve, which is what is really close to her heart, but not for Thanksgiving. My dad likes things simple anyway, so we went to the officers club on Ft. Hood. My dad is a retired Colonel and the military has never ceased to be a part of his life in some way or another. I say officers club, because when I was a kid, it was for officers only. Its for everyone now, and my parents did complain a little about that, but I only had to remind them once that something they said was offensive. That's an improvement.

I'm spending a lot more time around my parents because that is where the computer is. I really do love them and am finding that when I spend more time around them, they sort of calm down with all that language I am not fond of. They like having me around more, and are willing, I think, to meet me half-way to keep me around. This is a good thing.

With the absence of the computer, which I realize now I was completely addicted to, I've had to find other ways to occupy my time. I've dragged out my BtVS DVDs. Good grief I love that series. I had misplaced season 6, which aside from "Once More With Feeling" and dark Willow (I loved that arc - 'Bored now.' is one of my favorite things Willow ever says), and Buffy's sick and twisted relationship with Spike, is kind of a crap seaon. That and season four are my least favorite. Riley bored me to tears. I am at heart a Buffy/Angel shipper I think (although I have a lot of love for the idea of Buffy/Faith). I think Faith is one of favorite characters from that entire series. I love how messed up she is. I wonder if there are any Fairth/Sirius crossovers out there? I don't really read crossovers much, but that idea appeals to me. I don't really feel like rereading the Harry Potter series. I'm still working on Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead which I was tearing through until Lutzi decided he need to give it his brand of love. Sigh. It is frustrating to read a book when the upper corner of each page is either gone or undecipherable.

I am healing well. I still have scabs on the incision sites, but just itty bitty ones. Mostly I have pink scars and some tenderness there. I can't eat very much fat without getting into trouble. What sort of trouble I will save you from a lengthy explanation. You don't really want to know.

Lutzi has discovered cats. This is not a fabulous development. He wants one as a chew toy and thinks I'm an unreasonable bore for not letting him chase them. He yowls at me like I'm beating him when I say no. Autumn has finally made it to Texas which means there are piles of, apparently, cat-like piles of leaves everywhere. Lutzi pounces on each one like he's just found the most incredible prize. In fact, he pounces everything that could possibly be considered cat-sized. Someone dropped a cereal box on the way to garbage. You should have scene they way his front paws squished the box. He's not biting, he's pouncing. Pounce, pounce, pounce. The cats, by the way, are all on alert. I never realized we had so many cats in this complex until I had to make sure the leash didn't extend far enough that he could reach one. They are everywhere and they haaaaate Lutzi. That was how it started, I wasn't watching carefully enough, and he almost got close enough to pounce one. Now I see them all over the place. They are really smart though. They know that if they lay down and don't move, he'll never know they are there unless he scents them. With the wind blowing the wrong way, we've past almost close enough for him to reach them and he just lalalalala alongs because he is looking elsewhere for them. He checks every bush because he found the first one hiding in a bush. All in all, it is pretty amusing, but I have to keep a sharp eye out to make sure no kitties get squished. I do like cats even though I don't want one and would feel awful if anything ever happened.

I'm writing my [livejournal.com profile] rs_small_gifts piece today and tomorrow. I'll probably be putting out an emergency beta request later today or tomorrow unless someone reading this would like to help me out. I haven't asked for an extension because I don't really think I'm going to need it. I turned in my Kinky Kristmas piece. Mucho thanks to my betas. You better know how awesome you are. Just before my computer screen died, I had taken a [livejournal.com profile] mwpp_mischief I really, really like. I'm looking forward to getting started on that. I haven't decided if I am gong to write for [livejournal.com profile] rs_remix. This makes me so incredibly sad, to even have to consider not writing for this fest. I would love to see what of my work someone would pick and am so very interested to see what they would do with it. I just need to make certain I am able to give the attention and respect to someone else's work that it deserves. Unless I can resolve the computer issues quickly, I will not be writing for the [livejournal.com profile] rsbigbang.

I may have a temporary solution around the corner. My old laptop which died due to power supply issues may get revived. We'll see. I am hoping this is the less costly temporary solution.

I know I already said it, but I really, really do miss you guys. So damn much. Hope all is well. Tell me what you're up to. I'll be here all afternoon and can actually answer comments in a timely manner.

You are missed as well! I hope you get the computer situation worked out soon.

I'm so looking forward to your [livejournal.com profile] rs_small_gifts fic!

But yeah, I'm thinking I'm also going to need to pull back from fandom a bit after the fest season. Or at least work on my own projects without the stress of deadlines.

Your dog sounds pretty adorable (although I'm glad you're keeping him from squishing any actual kitties!).

Aw, thanks. I've tried to make up for my absence when I'm at my parents. I'm hoping I get the issues worked out soon, too.

I'm enjoying write it! I copied your request and emailed it to myself so I can refer to it often. I really hope you like it.

Fests I definitely wanted to pull back from. That was my plan even before the computer issues. I wanted to work on some projects that I've had in my mind for some time now. But fandom and fests aren't necessarily the same thing, and I miss fandom.

He is pretty adorable actually. He's a big, happy lunk. And yes! No squished kitties!

I am working on my small gifts fic today, too. I always end up going until the last possible minute. It's just so hard to get a quiet moment around here!

I really hope you write for remix. I would sad if you didn't.

I hate pushing things to the last minute. I actually had my kinky kristmas piece done weeks before the dead line. Getting it beta'd took a little bit of time, but that was fine. It was done!

I want to. You have no idea how much I want to. It is killing me to have to reconsider. By the way, did you see the post on that? I put one up for just you and [livejournal.com profile] rhye about remix.

Hehe, I know exactly what kind of trouble you're having with fat. I'm actually quite relieved that it wasn't just me.

*hugs* Missed you!

It is definitely not just you. On a two hour drive yesterday I had to make my 71 and 82 year old parents stop for me. They were fine. Oh, the humiliation.

Miss you, too. I can't even read your new R/S because my stupid phone won't access DW. I'm killing my data package on Monday so that won't matter anymore, but it has been so frustrating to have to wait. Maybe next weekend.

OH NO. RSBIGBANG!! I hope the computer issue gets fixed soon. :(

Glad to hear you're healing well, though. *hugs and hugs*

I hope I figure something out. Right now it looks like no [livejournal.com profile] rsbigbang. I even think I have an idea for it. :(

I'm feeling much better, and thank you.

Glad to hear you and Lutzi are doing well! Hahahah, "cats looks yummy". I am amused.

Ffffffff I'm pretty sure I'm going to be finishing at the last minute for rs_small_gifts, which I probably shouldn't say since my gift is for you, heh. Working on fandom stuff gives me a good break from homework every once in a while, though. I'd have End of Semester Blues right now if it wasn't for R/S.

I am now going to go catch up on sleep. And by catch up on sleep, I mean work frantically on small_gifts and surf the internet.

His love for cats is unnatural. He is on high alert. We are at defkitty 1. I am such a geek.

Hee! I just got mine sent off to the beta and I am not worried at all. If anything it makes me feel not quite so bad for getting to my piece so late.

And by catch up on sleep, I mean work frantically on small_gifts and surf the internet.

*giggles, then feels jealous, then cries*

This is what I used to mean by sleep.

Defkitty 1 is now my official codename.

Nice. I was considering betaing for you for a second, but then my brain was like "Wait DON'T YOU HAVE FIVE MILLION THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND".

Sometimes I wish I could catch up on sleep in the traditional sense more often. X'D *hands you tissue*
