Does anyone know when South America began to be called South America commonly? Wikipedia and google are proving less than helpful. Wikipedia cites the Vespucci thing but not when South America was called South America.
You've got to love maps & their makers.... According to this link, South America became so in 1538 on Gerardus Mercator's map. Hopefully, this helps....
