Prompt: Sirius and Lily talk after James proposes.
Disclaimer: Characters are not mine.
Author's Notes: For Rhea who is dying of school.
Sirius turns a corner in the castle and sees Lily; James' ridiculous grin floats into his mind. He pulls up and falls in beside her, smiling down from several inches over her shoulder. Her cheeks stain pink immediately.
"Watching you fall for James and then try to deny your feelings has been, perhaps, the most entertainment I've had all year. May I?" He lifts her hand to view the ring he helped James to select. "Very lovely."
"You're something of a prat," says Lily affectionately. "Did you know?" She is trying not to smile as he admires the ring. It is adorable how miserably she is failing.
"I did, actually, as you enjoy reminding me." His grin is wide and unrepentant. "I knew you'd say yes."
"Yes, well..." She looks at him shyly. He beams back.
"Which is of course," he teases with a grin, "my way of saying, 'thank you'. It was either you or me and honestly..." He pauses dramatically. "He's too much man for me."
Lily giggles and pats his arm with tender admonishment. "You're awful."
"Well, lets not tell him I said that," continues Sirius, using the same light, mirthful tone. "His ego is large enough as it is."
Lily tuts scoffingly. "Isn't that the pot calling the kettle-"
"Black?"
Lily groans.

You are my genfic audience of 1 and I confess to enjoying writing for your praise. Glad you enjoyed it.
Please don't feel pressured, by the way, on the Sirius/Remus. You sounded a bit and I don't want that.

But then I finished the drabble and this sums James Potter (and Sirius Black) up so well!

I have these two little genfic drabbles where Sirius is paired with no one. In this one Sirius is making a joke. The implication of course is that any man would be too much man.
Feel better?

I mean, the "joke" is always fine. It's tongue-in-cheek humor that I love. I'm sorry for my moment of density there.
Just checking.
