I know...I do feel guilty about it, but I've always thought that Azkaban played a very important role in tempering his steel. It's great to see what he was like without it...then again the death of his close friends took care of mellowing him down I'm sure.
It's very hard to go through the death of some one you sort of grew up with, even if you weren't that close...and early twenties is supposed to be when you finally get a hold of your reins, you know!
Anyway, that's what I like most about your stories...you always justify your characters. JK failed to do that for whatever reason....I could hardly recognise some of them by the time sixth book came around. This is how it was supposed to be...Sirius overwhelmed/confused but daring to face anything thrown at him, flirting with the females in the Order, loving Harry, teasing Hermione, pissing off others and being grounded by Remus.......deep sigh....if only he were tangible!!!!!
