JKR's references to ancient magic and the power of love is the closest to religious that she ever got. I liked the deeper level too, it is something I have always missed.
Not sure about a continuation. I'll say definitely maybe but nothing more definite than that although now that it was been asked for 3 times ideas are taking shape. This was meant as a one shot but who knows?
