Nah, this is the last time he does the dad thing. He's... at his very worst these first few chapters. All of his relationships are weird and have to be redefined and he's physically ill, grieving and off balance.
I'll get into later, but his relationship with Remus will have to be redefined. Its not the same and he didn't have 12 years in Azkaban to temper his reaction to being tossed away. He's not as... grateful maybe, as he will became before his death. Certainly nothing had humbled him yet.
Oh, I'm sure he cursed in OotP whenever Molly was out of sight. Ya know? I reread that little piece about the cops chasing James and Sirius on the motorbike and see him standing there, fully convinced of his near invincibility and just, you know full of himself.
Glad the you can see their interactions. I think if there is something I focus on, it would be how characters deal with each other. Not sure how good I am at it, but it is what I like to write about. If you can't see their mood or actions then I've failed so I'm glad that is coming across well.
