OK - now I've finished the chapter (had to board a flight..LOL).
My god woman. You have nailed my imagination. I always wanted to truly picture that scene when everything came to a halt. Just WHAM! You made his reactions justified. I always wondered, why would Sirius be so easy to give up Harry? Wouldn't he, even just a little, fight with him? The disagreement in canon was never enough for me.
You have set the scene for a very angry, loving, compassionate Sirius. I really enjoy your, Sirius, because your Sirius and my Sirius are two vastly different types. Yours will be tortured, living a life in question "what if" and mine is of a free heart, not knowing anything. Excellent, we're okay.
Sirius closing the eyes and the intimate moment with his bestfriend/brother was just beautiful. Reality was turning its ugly head and now Sirius, though very independent, would have to go on alone.
The last laugh - wonderful.
"The utter absurdity of the situation was more than Sirius could handle, he tipped his hat at life as being the ultimate prankster and threw back his head and let out a loud, unhappy laugh..." - you couldn't have explained it better.

Wonderful cliffhanger. Right now, I will not predict as I'm still chewing my lip in query. Hmm...where will you take this, love? Eager to see.
