Love me tender,
love me sweet,
never let me go.
You have made my life complete,
and I love you so.
A large, coarse hand presses gently into Hermione’s back, one of her hands is held aloft by another as she rest her head on Sirius’ broad chest. His low voice rumbles along with the words crackling out of the ancient phonograph, and in them she can hear his sincerity and love. Though the song may belong to Elvis Presley, Sirius means every word as though they were his own and she knows it.
Love me tender,
love me true,
all my dreams fulfilled.
For my darlin' I love you,
and I always will.
She never knew what a romantic Sirius was, all those years before, when the idea of what they are now would have been scandalous. Every note he croons to her fills her heart to the brim, almost disbelieving that her life could be filled with this much love. With gentle pressure he turns them around their candlelit living room, quiet except for his heartfelt serenade.
Love me tender,
love me long,
take me to your heart.
For it's there that I belong,
and we'll never part.
Her eyes close, a small smile plays on her lips as she considers the reason for this particular show of affection. One hand drops from his shoulder and down to her stomach; soon it will not be this flat as she swells with his child. She feels his lips close to her temple, almost kissing as he sings to her, having noticed where hand had fallen to.
Love me tender,
love me dear,
tell me you are mine.
I'll be yours through all the years,
till the end of time.
As the song comes to a close, the crackling from the old record now louder just before the needle reaches the next tune, Sirius drops to his knees in front of her, pressing his face into her belly. She gasps quietly, knowing she can only just grasp at the gratitude he feels, this second chance at happiness that he attributes mostly to her. As she runs her fingers though his long, dark hair, he looks up and their eyes meet. No words are needed and then the next song begins too play. Sirius stands once again as she watches, and then takes her in his arms for the next dance.
