Sirius sat across the table from Remus waiting, waiting, waiting. The werewolf was stone faced, stoic, his expression completely unreadable. The tension was getting to Sirius because he was trying something new and he really wanted his best friend’s opinion. He had done something rare and that was to make himself the smallest bit vulnerable and now to have his best friend sit there like an emotionless statue was nearly unbearable.

Sirius understood Remus’ silence when his resolve began to crack and the edges of his lips twitched.

“Fuck you, Mooney,” said Sirius. “I can’t believe you’re trying not to laugh, you bastard.”

Remus’ humor broke and he laughed openly, bordering on hysterical. It was nearly a giggle.

“You are-“ began Sirius, holding up a finger as he worked down his temper. “-a… a bad friend.”

Remus began to catch his breath. “I’m… I’m truly sorry, Padfoot. I’ve just never heard you, well, recite poetry.”

Sirius glared.

“And not just poetry, but bad poetry.” Remus sighed and then another wave of giggles hit.

“Piss off,” said Sirius grumpily.

“Bad erotic poetry no less,” said Remus cheerfully.

“I said to piss-“

“You actually rhymed addiction with friction,” added Remus.

Sirius stood up. “We’re not friends anymore.”

Remus rolled his eyes at the impotent threat. “You wrote that yourself didn’t you? For her?”

“I’m leaving,” growled Sirius.

“Give Hermione my love,” called Remus, as Sirius stormed out, slamming the kitchen door behind him.

From the second that Sirius cursed at him, I've smiled ear to ear. I love their brotherly bond, with Remus knowing his freedom and how far he can go.

Like a child in his thirties, like most men, I could see Sirius just snarking his lip. Annoyed at Remus. Not angry, just annoyed. His feelings weren't hurt, just pissed and irritated.

Friction and addiction....I love that delivery. Well done, Remus.

Well done, P!
