Summary: Although it wasn't as simple as that, because she was different and so was he, now, after so much tragedy and heart break.

Author's Note: Hermione is greater than or equal to 18 years of age.
They had been doing this dance for awhile now, a dance that his translated inner monologue might be best described as a demon pursuing his altogether out of reach angel. But he always was given to being a bit overly theatrical. He was and wasn't surprised at his success because Blacks weren't failures, which struck him as odd at still being able to think that way considering all the failure his life had encompassed. Still, women, even a woman as young as this one, apparently, were well within his range of things to attain. Although it wasn't as simple as that, because she was different and so was he, now, after so much tragedy and heart break. She was his second chance at being fully human and a man, something he was very aware of at the moment as, for the first time, he reached into her golden, velvety warmth and touched heaven itself.
