It never ceases to amaze him, the scent of her, that mysterious smell that blows into a room when she enters it, curling around his very being, wrapping him up in heady awareness. It is so powerful it moves beyond the olfactory into visual; he can see the herbs hanging on racks from their twine bindings- lavendar, chamomile, clary sage.

She never has worn perfume, and really, he prefers her that way; never cloying or overly feminine, but natural, magical.

She passes close by, a bunch of rosemary in her arms, cut and ready to be dried and he breathes the sharp scent in deeply and smiles.
